We did not bring any food, money, cell phones, or allopathic medicine from the city. Instead, we brought open hearts, able hands, and a desire to learn from communities and lifeways that have existed in this region for countless generations. We relied solely on faith, friendship, and the exchange of our labor for sustenance. And if only for one week, we had a direct connection to the land and communities that sustain us.
